Rotary
Rotary is a global network of 1.2 million neighbours, friends, leaders, and problem-solvers who come together to make positive, lasting change in communities at home and abroad.
Solving real problems takes real commitment and vision. For more than 110 years, Rotary members have used their passion, energy, and intelligence to take action on sustainable projects. From literacy and peace to water and health, we are always working to better our world, and we stay committed to the end.

- Rotary is for young and old. Our newest member gets inducted into Rotary.
- Delivering a pictorial dictionary to each child in the year group. An ongoing nationwide Rotary Project.
- Supporting individual and specially talented people is a unique feature of Rotary.
Our motto: Service Above Self
For more than 110 years, our guiding principles have been the foundation of our values: service, fellowship, diversity, integrity, and leadership.
What we do
Rotary members believe that we have a shared responsibility to take action on our world’s most persistent issues. Our 35,000+ clubs work together to:
- Promote peace
- Fight disease
- Provide clean water, sanitation, and hygiene
- Save mothers and children
- Support education
- Grow local economies
- Social events are regular features of Rotary.
- A working group installing one of the benches made by Waipapa Rotary. These are installed throughout the locality where ever a rest is needed.
- A night of great pride as 4 Paul Harris Awards are made to Waipapa Rotarians.
There are 5 Rotary clubs in Northland, (Bay of Islands at Paihia, Kerikeri, Kaikohe, Kaitaia and Waipapa.)
The Waipapa Rotary Club is proud to be one of the codes involved in the Baysports Complex
We meet every Wednesday at 6.30 for 7pm during the winter daylight saving hours and 7 for 7.30pm during the summer months. Our meetings are held in the Baysports Pavilion where we enjoy a social meal and regularly have interesting speakers and other events. Projects are undertaken to raise funds used for numerous local, national and internationally sponsored people, groups and events.
An important aspect of Rotary is the fellowship of its members. Waipapa Rotary is well known in the New Zealand Rotary world as being a club of relaxed fun and humor, social events and great friendships.
Rotary is non-political, non-racist, non-religious, non-sexist. So, if you have an open personality and looking to ‘put back in’ to your community then please come along and join us.
- Production of our benches is done in an ‘almost’ production line factory.
- Rotary works across the whole breadth of humanity. All are included, none excluded.
- Waipapa Rotary celebrating 111 years of Rotary worldwide.
