Judo

Juniors include beginners to yellow belts from the age of 5 years up.  All ages are encouraged to join the sport.  The juniors meet on a Wednesday evening (during term time) from 5:30pm onwards.

Beginners
Time: 5:30pm – 6:30pm
Area: Small mat
Judogi: Recommended, but not compulsory
Cost: $60 per term ($50 for additional family members)
Judo NZ Registation is included in the term fees

In this class we teach some of the protocol involved in Judo, break falls & basic falls & ground holds.  Some of the lessons are based on the Judo NZ Kiwi Judo scheme.  When the coaches feel enough progress has been made the judoka can be moved up to the junior lesson on the large mat.

Here skills are improved and more advanced techniques will be learnt.  The juniors will be assessed at the end of the 2nd term & those who have put the work in & advanced enough will be invited to undergo a tip grading.  At the end of the year a full belt grading will be held.

Seniors
Seniors meet on as Wednesday night from 6:00 onwards.  Seniors are adults at various levels.  Many seniors help out coaching the juniors.

Time: 6:30pm – 8:00pm

Area: Largemat
Judogi: Compulsory
Cost: $100 per year
Judo NZ Registation is mandatory (not included in the fees)

During this time older juniors can join in to get some additional tuition from some very experienced & skilled judoka.  We encourage seniors to arrive early to help with the juniors.

Judo NZ

Judo NZ is the govering body for the sport. Kerikeri Judo Club falls under the Auckland Judo Region.

All club members must be registered with Judo NZ.  Twelve months registration is $60 per member.  The Judo NZ registration fee is included in the junior term fee.

Registration is mandatory for entry to competitions and grading.
